5 Day Healing Grief/Indigenous Trauma informed Gathering
Monday July 13 – Friday July 17, 2026
Our first ever 5 Day Gathering! This gathering combines our two most requested gatherings: the Healing Grief & Indigenous Trauma Informed Gatherings. The first day will include tool sharing to help support participants with grounding tools for the entire gathering and tools to integrate for the rest of their lives.
The Healing Grief Gathering – Grief is incredibly complex and often misunderstood. Throughout our lifetime, we may experience more than 40 different types of loss, from the death of a loved one to relationship breakdowns, moving away from one’s community, and more. Unfortunately, we often rely on the wrong tool—our brains—when navigating grief.
This gathering equips participants with grounding tools and techniques to release unhelpful cognitive thoughts, reconnect with their emotions, and use their hearts to heal from loss. Through various activities, the Ember of Hope team supports participants working through a broad spectrum of grief and loss experiences.
Indigenous Trauma Informed Gathering – What is trauma, and how do humans react to it? Informed by a Two-Eyed Seeing approach, the Ember team helps participants explore how our minds, hearts, and bodies cope with trauma and adversity. This includes an overview of the historical context for Indigenous peoples’ trauma and how its impacts play out today. We will explore how the brain works and it’s neurobiology.
Two-Eyed Seeing is an approach where individuals come together to view the world with an Indigenous lens through one eye and a Western lens through the other. By combining the strengths of each perspective, our inquiries and solutions can draw from both worldviews. This gathering fosters a supportive environment, encouraging participants to be gentle and kind with one another as we all navigate different levels of trauma and adversity.
