When a person goes into suicidal crisis, it’s not about dying–it’s about stopping the pain. Ember of Hope believes that every individual contains transformational energy, and with the right support, a suicidal crisis can become a time of growth.
Moving Through the Seasons is a stigma-free gathering designed for both formal helpers (e.g., health care workers, youth workers) and informal helpers (e.g., caretakers, friends, family members) in rural or First Nations communities. Participants will learn about suicide and the signs of suicidal crisis. They will be equipped with holistic tools to support a person in crisis, as well as strategies to keep them safe.
In addition, participants will gain insight into the main factors contributing to the higher rates of suicide in First Nations communities.
