Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) supports individuals who have survived traumatic events. CISM consists of various crisis response components, each designed to address a specific phase of crisis. This comprehensive crisis intervention service offers powerful crisis support for individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
Benefits
- Minimize the negative impacts of a critical incident.
- Normalize instinctive reactions to the event.
- Encourage the natural recovery process following trauma.
- Restore adaptive functioning skills for individuals and groups.
- Assess the need for further supportive services or therapy.
Duration: This depends on the nature of the critical event and the number of participants involved. Ember of Hope will consult with a lead in the community before determining the appropriate length of time required.
Crisis Response Counseling
Through crisis response counseling, Richard and Janine deliver care to individuals and communities experiencing a sudden trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), compassion fatigue, abuse, or witnessing violence or accidents. This support is essential during crises such as sudden loss, wildfires, natural disasters, or other traumatic events.

Richard and Janine are skilled in helping individuals understand their trauma responses, providing grounding techniques and tools, and preparing clients for what to expect in the weeks following a traumatic event. We also offer information on additional resources and contacts in the community.
Benefits
- Promote the safety and stabilization of individuals affected by crisis.
- Provide healthy coping strategies.
- Increase understanding of normal trauma reactions.
Duration: Typically, 1-2 hours per community member.
